The Raiders spent real capital to be 86 picks early on Jordan Travis, and the board is going to hold them to it. The bottom line is a respectable B.
The Johnson steal is the beam this whole class leans on. Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. The dealing nudged the ledger their way without much fuss.
They went 6 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 13 they get a blindside protector. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Nothing to complain about; DJ James went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A reach for Trey Benson in Round 3, Pick 13; a little patience would have been rewarded. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Jordan Travis this early at the 86th overall pick. It fills a real need, too.
James Williams in slot 112 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Luke McCaffrey at the 127th pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They took Kitan Oladapo at par in the 148th overall pick, which is nothing to complain about. A minor need, but a need all the same.
They robbed the room for Cornelius Johnson here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Brevyn Spann-Ford at slot 223 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. The roster fit checks out.
Myles Harden in the Round 7 slot is a gift, value that borders on unfair. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
