The rest of the league had time to spare on Xavier Thomas; the Raiders did not wait, grabbing him 56 spots ahead at pick 190.
The offensive lineman spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. The Pratt steal is the beam this whole class leans on.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 13th pick they get a ballhawk on the outside. The biggest hole, addressed.
Devontez Walker at Round 2, Pick 12 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They paid sticker price for Junior Colson in slot 77, and that is fine. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Michael Pratt in the 112th overall pick. A need, and now a little less of one.
They talked themselves into Jordan Jefferson at the Round 5 slot, and the board did not agree. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Xavier Thomas at No. 190 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Good price on Nathaniel Watson in the 234th overall pick, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
