The Raiders clearly saw something nobody else did in Steven Parker, taking him 196 picks ahead of his grade. The board is not convinced.
That is a specialist worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. The dealing alone would carry a lesser class.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped offensive lineman, which is a strange place to end up.
Good work on the whole, with offensive lineman the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 12 they get a bell-cow for the offense, outstanding value to boot.
They talked themselves into Quinn Ewers at pick 48, and the board did not agree. The roster fit checks out.
Jack Bech in No. 73 is fair value, right on his grade. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They liked O'Donnell Fortune enough to skip the value, taking him in the 107th pick. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Mason Taylor at Round 4, Pick 31 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It fills a real need, too.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Brady Cook well ahead of where he belonged. A need, and now a little less of one.
Steven Parker at Round 6, Pick 4 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Smael Mondon Jr. at No. 217 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Ricky White III at pick 218. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Ryan Fitzgerald in slot 257 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
