Somebody took the Vikings to the cleaners. The deals they made bled real value, and the whole class wears it.
Whatever Jayden Daniels becomes, the front office has tied its fortunes to the answer. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through safety. They will need Gore Jr. to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.
It is a steep hill from here, and the grade knows it.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 6 they get a passer to set the clock by at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Laiatu Latu in No. 12 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Nate Wiggins at pick 44 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
A straight-up fair deal on Howard Cross III at slot 118, value and slot in agreement. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
A tidy bit of business in the Round 6 slot, where Ty'Ron Hopper graded well above the range. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Frank Gore Jr. at the 239th overall pick is a conviction pick that outran the value. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
