This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Devontez Walker, the No. 103 name on the board, stolen at No. 127. The bottom line is a respectable B.
That safety hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. They gave back a little on the phones for the right to move.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 15 they get a premier pass rusher. Exactly the need they had to hit.
J.J. McCarthy in the Round 2 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A clean, defensible pick in Round 4, Pick 12 with a little surplus value in Tommy Eichenberg. A minor itch, scratched.
Taking Devontez Walker in the 127th pick is close to grand larceny; a wide receiver that good had no business lasting this long. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
A slide stopped in the 149th overall pick, with Nehemiah Pritchett worth more than the price. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Value with a capital V on Mike Sainristil in No. 162, a genuine coup. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
They let Jonah Monheim come to them and pounced at pick 165. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Braden Fiske at pick No. 179 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Jaylin Noel at the Round 7 slot is the proof. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
