Somebody in slot 181 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Raiders sat still while Rod Moore, the No. 141 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.
The Gabriel pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain. Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 5 of 8 of the wish list covered.
The skill positions did well by the weekend.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get an every-down engine for the run game. A real need, handled.
A tidy bit of business in pick No. 37, where Kenneth Grant graded well above the range. The roster fit checks out.
You do not let a linebacker like Jihaad Campbell reach Round 3, Pick 4 and blink. They did not. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Dillon Gabriel. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Kyren Lacy. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Jaeden Roberts this early at slot 139. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They will replay Rod Moore at the 181st overall pick for years; that is how good the value is. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Ja'Corey Brooks in pick 197 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
