After circling the position for what felt like forever, the Vikings committed. Jayden Daniels is the quarterback now, and the roster gets built to his timeline. They moved the roster forward and banked a B for it.
On value alone, Jones makes the weekend a net positive. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped wide receiver, which is a strange place to end up. The cost of the Jones reach is exactly the players who went right after him.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 11th pick they get a franchise quarterback. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Nothing to complain about; Chop Robinson went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Jarrian Jones in the 108th overall pick is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
By-the-book stuff, James Williams at pick No. 130 squarely in line with his ranking. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Braelon Allen at Round 5, Pick 12 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Good price on Cedric Johnson in No. 160, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They paid sticker price for Roger Rosengarten in pick 166, and that is fine. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Curtis Jacobs at slot 179 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the linebacker. A minor need, but a need all the same.
They barely believed it either: Sheridan Jones still on the board at pick 230. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
