Every swap seemed to tilt away from the Raiders, and the value they bled adds up to real damage. About as rough as the board gets, and a F to prove it.
They have staked the next five years on Caleb Williams, which is the only story that really matters here. That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. They will need Ulofoshio to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.
It is a win-now wager, and the future is the stake.
There is no soft landing here; this class has to massively overperform just to matter.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 1 they get a franchise quarterback. A clean fit for the roster.
Nothing to complain about; Braelon Allen went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A need, and now a little less of one.
No edge and no loss on Junior Colson in the 112th overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Mike Sainristil at the Round 5 slot is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the cornerback. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They took Sincere Haynesworth at par in No. 148, which is nothing to complain about. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They did well to land Bru McCoy in pick No. 193, just ahead of his grade. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Fentrell Cypress II in pick 234. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Edefuan Ulofoshio at the 235th pick is a conviction pick that outran the value. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
