The Cardinals looked at the value chart, folded it up, and took Kiran Amegadjie at pick 68 regardless, 33 picks early.
For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain. Getting Jackson where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class.
They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 4 they get a go-to option on the outside. The biggest hole, addressed.
In No. 17 they get a run-stuffing presence up front at fair value. A real need, handled.
Nate Wiggins in Round 2, Pick 4 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A minor itch, scratched.
A wild overpay on Kiran Amegadjie in pick No. 68, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A tidy bit of business in the 71st overall pick, where Landon Jackson graded well above the range. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Christian Mahogany. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Braelon Allen in the Round 4 slot. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A clean, defensible pick in slot 133 with a little surplus value in Tykee Smith. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
