Somebody in slot 223 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Raiders sat still while Steele Chambers, the No. 199 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.
The cost of the Vidal reach is exactly the players who went right after him. Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 13 they get a home-run threat at receiver. Exactly the need they had to hit.
In the 27th pick they get a press-man option on the boundary at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Renardo Green in the Round 3 slot is fair value, right on his grade. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Mason McCormick in No. 148 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They let Joe Milton III come to them and pounced at pick 208. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Steele Chambers in slot 223 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
They reached a country mile for Kimani Vidal at pick No. 229, and the board is aghast. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
