There is a lot to like until you notice interior defensive lineman is still a hole. The Eagles never got to the one that mattered most.
That Wilson pick is the receipt they will wave around later. The Linton pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a disruptor off the edge. The biggest hole, addressed.
Kingsley Suamataia in No. 51 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It fills a real need, too.
A tidy bit of business in the 64th overall pick, where Denzel Burke graded well above the range. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They took Payton Wilson at par in Round 3, Pick 34, which is nothing to complain about. A minor itch, scratched.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Roman Wilson at slot 137 is the proof. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Nothing to complain about; AJ Barner went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A reach for Steve Linton in pick No. 172; a little patience would have been rewarded. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A straight-up fair deal on Devin Neal at pick 178, value and slot in agreement. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
