The war room fell hard for Jack Westover, and it showed at slot 232: 88 picks ahead of a board that had other ideas. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B.
So much rides on Jayden Daniels that the rest of the class almost grades on a curve behind him. The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. The safety hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
The Watson steal is the beam this whole class leans on.
Good work on the whole, with safety the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 6 they get a franchise quarterback. The biggest hole, addressed.
A straight-up fair deal on Jackson Powers-Johnson at Round 2, Pick 2, value and slot in agreement. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
T'Vondre Sweat in the 47th pick is fair value, right on his grade. The roster fit checks out.
A reach on Brenden Rice in pick 87; the board had better options right there. A need, and now a little less of one.
They paid a round early for Christian Mahogany in pick No. 88, more than the board wanted. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Good price on Dwight McGlothern in slot 167, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Myles Cole at No. 177 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Taking Nathaniel Watson in Round 7, Pick 10 is close to grand larceny; a linebacker that good had no business lasting this long. It adds depth where they could use a little.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Jack Westover this early at pick 232. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
