The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Vikings watched Roman Wilson slide 47 picks past his grade and did not hesitate. Call it a sensible B+, earned the boring way.
They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. They are betting Cole proves the room right and everyone else wrong.
For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
They paid a round early for Mike Sainristil in pick 64, more than the board wanted. A minor itch, scratched.
They robbed the room for Christian Haynes here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They barely believed it either: Roman Wilson still on the board at No. 129. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Tommy Eichenberg in the Round 5 slot is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
A straight-up fair deal on Cody Schrader at the 160th pick, value and slot in agreement. The roster fit checks out.
Nothing to complain about; Roger Rosengarten went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Myles Cole. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
