Everything else got attention, and quarterback got none. That is a strange way for the Vikings to leave a draft.
The Barton reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Emmanwori.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 26 they get a workhorse for the backfield. A real need, handled.
Josh Conerly Jr. in the 58th overall pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Value with a capital V on Nick Emmanwori in the Round 5 slot, a genuine coup. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Terrance Ferguson at slot 145 is a conviction pick that outran the value. The roster fit checks out.
No drama and no debate, Jaeden Roberts went about where he belonged in pick No. 169. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A conviction pick on Fentrell Cypress II at the 195th pick that the board grades a round light. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Lander Barton this early at No. 201. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
