Las Vegas Raiders

Nobody dealt better than the Raiders this weekend: B.

The Raiders torched the value chart for Trey Taylor, taking him 33 spots sooner than anyone had him slotted. It nets out to a B, which feels about right.

The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend. With edge rusher and quarterback unsolved, spending premium capital on OLB-EDGE is the choice that costs them.

They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.

In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.20 · Pick 20 · Troy Fautanu · OT · rank 21
In slot 20 they get a cornerstone up front at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
R2.12 · Pick 44 · Edgerrin Cooper · LB · rank 49
Edgerrin Cooper in the Round 2 slot is fair value, right on his grade. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
R3.13 · Pick 77 · Max Melton · CB · rank 76
Max Melton in the 77th overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R3.33 · Pick 96 · Brenden Rice · WR · rank 97
A straight-up fair deal on Brenden Rice at the 96th pick, value and slot in agreement. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
R3.34 · Pick 97 · DeWayne Carter · DT · rank 101
DeWayne Carter at Round 3, Pick 34 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. The roster fit checks out.
R3.35 · Pick 98 · Javon Solomon · OLB-EDGE · rank 115
A want over a need in pick No. 98: Javon Solomon adds an OLB-EDGE while edge rusher and quarterback keeps waiting.
R3.36 · Pick 99 · MarShawn Lloyd · RB · rank 96
A clean, defensible pick in the 99th overall pick with a little surplus value in MarShawn Lloyd. A need, and now a little less of one.
R4.12 · Pick 112 · Blake Fisher · OT · rank 118
They took Blake Fisher at par in the Round 4 slot, which is nothing to complain about. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
R5.12 · Pick 148 · Tyrone Tracy Jr. · WR · rank 151
They paid sticker price for Tyrone Tracy Jr. in slot 148, and that is fine. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
R5.18 · Pick 154 · Jaheim Bell · TE · rank 165
They paid up for Jaheim Bell at No. 154 when waiting would have done the job. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
R6.33 · Pick 208 · Ryan Flournoy · WR · rank 202
Ryan Flournoy at pick 208 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the wide receiver. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
R7.3 · Pick 223 · Garret Greenfield · OT · rank 215
A slide stopped in the 223rd pick, with Garret Greenfield worth more than the price. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R7.9 · Pick 229 · Trey Taylor · S · rank 262
They reached into another round for Trey Taylor, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It adds depth where they could use a little.
