The Eagles spent real capital to be 82 picks early on Clay Webb, and the board is going to hold them to it. They moved the roster forward and banked a B- for it.
The Cornelius pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. The cornerback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. They went 5 of 9 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
Good work on the whole, with cornerback the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 32 they get a security blanket over the middle, outstanding value to boot. A clean fit for the roster.
Alfred Collins is a better player than the Round 2 slot suggests; smart patience, rewarded. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for David Bailey. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Tez Johnson in pick 129 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A top-tier offensive lineman at a bargain, Ajani Cornelius in the 162nd pick, plain and simple. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Jamon Dumas-Johnson in the 166th overall pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
