The search is over. The Raiders handed the keys to Jayden Daniels, and the whole operation now runs on his development. No fireworks, but a solid B+.
They banked enough surplus on Trotter Jr. to cover a lot of smaller sins. The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
They will need Jones to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 13 they get their guy under center for the next decade. A real need, handled.
By-the-book stuff, T'Vondre Sweat at Round 2, Pick 25 squarely in line with his ranking. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Jeremiah Trotter Jr. is a better player than the 77th pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, James Williams at pick No. 150. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Jaylen Wright at pick 158 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It fills a real need, too.
Theo Johnson in the Round 5 slot is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
No drama and no debate, De'Corian Clark went about where he belonged in the 199th overall pick. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They paid up for Matthew Jones at No. 234 when waiting would have done the job. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
