This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Javon Foster, the No. 54 name on the board, stolen at slot 111.
The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it.
The cost of the Briningstool reach is exactly the players who went right after him. The Raiders paired the rookies with proven help, Lane Johnson leading the way.
Bottom line, they left the weekend a clearly better team, and they earned every bit of it.
Pick-by-Pick
No edge and no loss on J.J. McCarthy in pick 43; it is a wash and a sensible one. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
You do not let an offensive lineman like Javon Foster reach the 111th pick and blink. They did not. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They barely believed it either: Khyree Jackson still on the board at pick No. 148. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Jake Briningstool. It fills a real need, too.
A wide receiver of that caliber at the 232nd overall pick is the definition of value, full stop. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
