Start where it matters. The Raiders took Drake Maye to run the offense for the next decade, and every other decision this weekend bends around that one.
However the rest shakes out, Jackson at that price is a win they earned. They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
They went 5 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 9th overall pick they get the arm they will build around at fair value. A real need, handled.
In the 13th pick they get a ballhawk on the outside. Exactly the need they had to hit.
They took T'Vondre Sweat at par in the Round 2 slot, which is nothing to complain about. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Junior Colson in Round 3, Pick 13 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Fair-plus on Zak Zinter, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Roger Rosengarten in No. 148. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
You do not let a wide receiver like Jha'Quan Jackson reach slot 208 and blink. They did not. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They barely believed it either: Trente Jones still on the board at pick No. 223. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
The board fumbled Jaylan Ford all the way to the 229th pick, and they scooped it up. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
