Philadelphia Eagles

The Eagles lost the trade table, and the C+ tells the story.

The Eagles lost the trade war and it was not close, handing partners the better end again and again. For now it grades a C+, with the swing picks left to settle the rest.

They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. If Trotter Jr. pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about.

Vaki at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. The hoard sets up next April more than it helps this September.

In the end, one you will need a couple of seasons to truly judge.

Pick-by-Pick

R2.18 · Pick 50 · Jeremiah Trotter Jr. · LB · rank 68
They reached into another round for Jeremiah Trotter Jr., and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It adds depth where they could use a little.
R2.21 · Pick 53 · DJ James · CB · rank 53
DJ James at pick No. 53 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R4.20 · Pick 120 · Matt Goncalves · OT · rank 114
Matt Goncalves in the 120th pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
R5.25 · Pick 161 · Tyrone Tracy Jr. · WR · rank 151
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Tyrone Tracy Jr. at the Round 5 slot is the proof. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
R5.35 · Pick 171 · Tykee Smith · S · rank 160
Tykee Smith at No. 171 is money in the bank, a safety taken below his worth. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R5.36 · Pick 172 · Sione Vaki · S · rank 159
The board had Sione Vaki higher than slot 172, and the safety fell to them anyway. It fills a real need, too.
R6.35 · Pick 210 · Curtis Jacobs · LB · rank 198
They let Curtis Jacobs come to them and pounced at the 210th overall pick. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
