The phones were a trap the Vikings kept walking into, shipping out surplus on nearly every deal. About as rough as the board gets, and a F to prove it.
Caleb Williams is the bet, and the class will be judged on how it pays off. A whole weekend of picks and safety is somehow still a want.
However the rest shakes out, Duck at that price is a win they earned. The bill for those future picks comes due whether the class hits or not.
In the end, a class that has to defy its grades just to matter.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 1 they get the arm they will build around. The biggest hole, addressed.
In No. 20 they get a quarterback's worst nightmare at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Jalen McMillan slid further than he should have, and pick 120 is lovely value for the wide receiver. A need, and now a little less of one.
A tidy bit of business in the 157th pick, where MarShawn Lloyd graded well above the range. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They read the board right and Jack Nelson was the payoff at Round 5, Pick 25. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Storm Duck in the 256th overall pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
