They will call it conviction in the building and a reach everywhere else: Will Rogers, 100 picks early at the Round 7 slot.

The Simon steal is the beam this whole class leans on. They have staked the next five years on Jalen Milroe, which is the only story that really matters here.

A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want.

Call it incomplete, and check back in a couple of seasons.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.6 · Pick 6 · Jalen Milroe · QB · rank 50
Jalen Milroe at the 6th overall pick is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
R2.5 · Pick 37 · Tate Ratledge · OG · rank 31
Tate Ratledge at pick 37 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
R3.4 · Pick 68 · Tez Johnson · WR · rank 94
Tez Johnson at the Round 3 slot is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R3.9 · Pick 73 · Xavier Watts · S · rank 48
Xavier Watts at the 73rd pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
R4.3 · Pick 104 · Dylan Sampson · RB · rank 43
The board fumbled Dylan Sampson all the way to Round 4, Pick 3, and they scooped it up. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R5.1 · Pick 139 · Jason Marshall Jr. · CB · rank 134
Jason Marshall Jr. at pick No. 139 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the cornerback. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
R6.6 · Pick 181 · Eli Stowers · TE · rank 164
Nice patience on Eli Stowers, who had no business lasting to No. 181. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
R6.37 · Pick 212 · Cody Simon · LB · rank 125
Taking Cody Simon in pick 212 is close to grand larceny; a linebacker that good had no business lasting this long. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
R7.2 · Pick 216 · Tonka Hemingway · DT · rank 216
Tonka Hemingway in the Round 7 slot is fair value, right on his grade. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
R7.7 · Pick 221 · Will Rogers · QB · rank 321
This one needs a full-page explanation: Will Rogers in the 221st overall pick, miles early. A need, and now a little less of one.
