There is a lot to like until you notice tight end is still a hole. The Cardinals never got to the one that mattered most.
On value alone, Lloyd makes the weekend a net positive. Every board in the league had Jones lower, and that gap is the story.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 4 they get a matchup problem out wide. The biggest hole, addressed.
In pick No. 26 they get a problem off the edge at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Good price on Kamari Lassiter in the Round 2 slot, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
They took Javon Bullard at par in Round 3, Pick 2, which is nothing to complain about. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
A straight-up fair deal on Christian Haynes at slot 71, value and slot in agreement. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Nothing to complain about; Marist Liufau went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Fair-plus on Blake Fisher, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They paid sticker price for Jordan Travis in the 133rd overall pick, and that is fine. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
MarShawn Lloyd at the 140th overall pick is money in the bank, a running back taken below his worth. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They did well to land Aki Ogunbiyi in pick 188, just ahead of his grade. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A reach for Matthew Jones in No. 225; a little patience would have been rewarded. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
By-the-book stuff, Dylan McMahon at the Round 7 slot squarely in line with his ranking. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
