There is conviction, and then there is this. The Eagles took Jasheen Davis a full 194 picks ahead of where the board had him, an overdraft steep enough that it colors the whole weekend. It nets out to a B-, which feels about right.
On value alone, Mukuba makes the weekend a net positive. They punted on cornerback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. The roster is better shaped than it was, with edge rusher chief among the fixes.
Trading back for volume was the quiet throughline of their weekend.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 32nd pick they get a mismatch in the passing game, and a steal at that. A clean fit for the roster.
They barely believed it either: Jalon Walker still on the board at pick No. 64. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
They will replay Tate Ratledge at the Round 3 slot for years; that is how good the value is. It fills a real need, too.
They robbed the room for Andrew Mukuba here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They talked themselves into Cam Jackson at the 162nd overall pick, and the board did not agree. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Value said wait; Jasheen Davis in Round 5, Pick 27 says they were not listening. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Miles Frazier well ahead of where he belonged. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Xavier Truss in the 227th overall pick, miles early. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Jordan Watkins in pick No. 246 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
