The Garrett Dellinger selection is the head-turner. The Raiders reached 75 spots for him, and it will define how this weekend is remembered.
The Belton steal is the beam this whole class leans on. They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 17 they get a cornerstone up front, though the board says they badly overpaid. The biggest hole, addressed.
Nice patience on Emeka Egbuka, who had no business lasting to the 33rd overall pick. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They paid sticker price for Jihaad Campbell in slot 37, and that is fine. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Xavier Watts at the 51st pick. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
A quiet steal in Round 3, Pick 4: TreVeyon Henderson for less than the market said. A need, and now a little less of one.
Jalen Milroe at No. 94 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. The roster fit checks out.
A tidy bit of business in the 108th overall pick, where Darius Alexander graded well above the range. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Anthony Belton at the Round 5 slot is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Circle this one: Brashard Smith at pick 151 is a fall that decides a draft. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Jaydon Blue in the 180th pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Dont'e Thornton Jr. at slot 197 is the proof. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They barely believed it either: Oronde Gadsden II still on the board at No. 213. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Isaac TeSlaa in pick No. 215 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They talked themselves into Garrett Dellinger at Round 7, Pick 6, and the board did not agree. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
