After circling the position for what felt like forever, the Raiders committed. Bo Nix is the quarterback now, and the roster gets built to his timeline. No fireworks, but a solid B+.
All falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. If Kamara pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about.
They will regret leaving interior defensive lineman for another day if the season turns on it.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 31 they get the face of the franchise. A real need, handled.
They took Jonathon Brooks at par in the 44th pick, which is nothing to complain about. A need, and now a little less of one.
Max Melton at the Round 3 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
No edge and no loss on Brenden Rice in pick 94; it is a wash and a sensible one. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Mohamed Kamara in pick No. 112 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Cedric Gray slipping to slot 124 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Layden Robinson at No. 158 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A clean, defensible pick in the 187th overall pick with a little surplus value in Ty'Ron Hopper. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
A tidy bit of business in pick No. 202, where Trente Jones graded well above the range. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A top-tier tight end at a bargain, Erick All in pick 223, plain and simple. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
