The phones were a trap the Cardinals kept walking into, shipping out surplus on nearly every deal. Call it a C- and check back in two years.
The Walker value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. They will need Randolph Jr. to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want.
The hoard sets up next April more than it helps this September.
If Devontez Walker and a couple of the gambles land, hindsight will be kinder than this grade.
Pick-by-Pick
Devontez Walker at Round 3, Pick 2 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Trey Benson in the 85th pick. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Cooper Beebe at the 107th overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They read the board right and Dominick Puni was the payoff at pick 110. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Max Melton at the Round 4 slot is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the cornerback. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Jaheim Bell at No. 131 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. The roster fit checks out.
A tidy little value on Jaden Hicks in Round 4, Pick 33, a step better than break-even. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Keith Randolph Jr. in the Round 5 slot is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
