Somebody in Round 7, Pick 27 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Eagles sat still while Cornelius Johnson, the No. 211 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium.
The quarterback hole is the one line item this class does not answer. The roster is better shaped than it was, with cornerback chief among the fixes. Nearly every premium pick went to that side of the ball.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 26 they get juice off the edge at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jordan Morgan. The roster fit checks out.
No drama and no debate, Cooper DeJean went about where he belonged in slot 58. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A straight-up fair deal on Braelon Allen at pick 97, value and slot in agreement. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
James Williams at the 137th overall pick is money in the bank, a safety taken below his worth. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Cole Bishop in the 157th pick lands just on the right side of the ledger. A need, and now a little less of one.
By-the-book stuff, Braden Fiske at No. 172 squarely in line with his ranking. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Value with a capital V on Tre Harris in pick No. 178, a genuine coup. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Taking Cornelius Johnson in the 247th pick is close to grand larceny; a wide receiver that good had no business lasting this long. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
