The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Raiders watched Cam Skattebo slide 107 picks past his grade and did not hesitate.
The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Milroe has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick-by-Pick
They paid sticker price for Mason Graham in the 6th overall pick, and that is fine. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Jalen Milroe at the Round 2 slot jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They will replay Jihaad Campbell at pick 68 for years; that is how good the value is. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
A offensive lineman of that caliber at the 73rd pick is the definition of value, full stop. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A quiet steal in Round 4, Pick 5: Maxwell Hairston for less than the market said. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Circle this one: Smael Mondon Jr. at No. 142 is a fall that decides a draft. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
Somehow Sonny Styles was still sitting there in slot 178, and they pounced on premier safety value. A minor itch, scratched.
They robbed the room for Ollie Gordon II here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. The roster fit checks out.
Cam Skattebo at the 216th pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Taking Seth McLaughlin in the Round 7 slot is close to grand larceny; an offensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
