Everything else got attention, and cornerback got none. That is a strange way for the Raiders to leave a draft. It does the job without flash, and the B+ reflects it.
Sweat has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. The imported veterans give this class a floor the draft picks could not on their own. The dealing nudged the ledger their way without much fuss.
Stockpiling next year's capital is patient, if unglamorous, asset work.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 32nd pick they get a quarterback's worst nightmare. Exactly the need they had to hit.
T'Vondre Sweat at pick 44 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
No drama and no debate, Johnny Wilson went about where he belonged in the Round 3 slot. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Isaiah Adams at No. 112 is a conviction pick that outran the value. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They took Braelon Allen at par in slot 150, which is nothing to complain about. A need, and now a little less of one.
Good price on Joe Milton III in pick No. 169, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
A reach on Brevyn Spann-Ford in the 204th overall pick; the board had better options right there. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Matthew Jones at Round 7, Pick 14 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
