If you want a masterclass in dealing, watch the Cardinals, who turned every swap into a profit this weekend.
A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want. The Melton pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with quarterback, running back and other spots still on the board.
On value alone, Abrams-Draine makes the weekend a net positive.
Add it up and few war rooms did better this weekend, Quinyon Mitchell and all.
Pick-by-Pick
Quinyon Mitchell at slot 27 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
In pick No. 28 they get a long-term starter on the line at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
No drama and no debate, Bralen Trice went about where he belonged in the Round 2 slot. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Johnny Wilson in pick 66 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They paid sticker price for Cooper Beebe in the 71st pick, and that is fine. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Roman Wilson in Round 3, Pick 27. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
The needs board was loud and they turned it down, spending the 104th overall pick on Max Melton with quarterback, running back and other spots unsolved.
Hard to square with the roster. With positions of obvious need still on the board, Kris Abrams-Draine adds a cornerback and leaves quarterback, running back and other spots untouched.
