The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Eagles watched Caedan Wallace slide 75 picks past his grade and did not hesitate.
For all the activity, safety went untouched, which is hard to explain. The Sweat pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. They left with cornerback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
Nearly every premium pick went to that side of the ball.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 22 they get a ballhawk on the outside. The biggest hole, addressed.
T'Vondre Sweat at the Round 2 slot jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A reach for Cooper Beebe in the 53rd overall pick; a little patience would have been rewarded. It fills a real need, too.
Jalyx Hunt in No. 120 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Tyrone Tracy Jr. in pick No. 161 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
The board fumbled Xavier Thomas all the way to slot 171, and they scooped it up. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They let Dallin Holker come to them and pounced at the 172nd pick. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
They barely believed it either: Caedan Wallace still on the board at Round 6, Pick 35. A need, and now a little less of one.
