The war room fell hard for Eyabi Okie-Anoma, and it showed at Round 7, Pick 31: 33 picks ahead of a board that had other ideas.
Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. They will regret leaving running back for another day if the season turns on it.
Landing Rosemy-Jacksaint that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. The roster is better shaped than it was, with cornerback chief among the fixes.
Bottom line, they will be counting on several picks to beat their grades.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 31st pick they get a lockdown presence outside. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
They paid up for Chris Braswell at pick 33 when waiting would have done the job. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Payton Wilson at the Round 2 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A minor itch, scratched.
Christian Haynes in pick No. 53 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Good price on Malachi Corley in the 63rd overall pick, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Ja'Lynn Polk at slot 65 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Nice patience on Max Melton, who had no business lasting to the 85th overall pick. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
