There was a run on nobody at that position, and the Raiders started one anyway for Sam Hartman, 57 picks ahead of schedule. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.
Hardy falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Job largely done: cornerback settled and 5 of 8 of the wish list covered.
The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 13 they get an anchor for the offensive line at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
T'Vondre Sweat in slot 44 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
No edge and no loss on Cooper Beebe in the Round 3 slot; it is a wash and a sensible one. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A wild overpay on Ben Sinnott in the 112th pick, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Sam Hartman at pick No. 150 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Sheridan Jones at Round 6, Pick 15 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Daequan Hardy slid further than he should have, and pick 234 is lovely value for the cornerback. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
