Call it larceny. DJ Giddens sat on the board until the 224th overall pick, and the Raiders did not need to be asked twice.
The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend. They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it. Adding Jordan Addison by trade rounds out the weekend beyond the rookies.
It is a haul that will look even better come September.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 24 they get a lockdown presence outside at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Nothing to complain about; Omarion Hampton went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Jaxson Dart is a better player than slot 68 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. The roster fit checks out.
Andrew Mukuba at No. 73 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the safety. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Darien Porter in pick No. 97 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Jaylin Noel in the 107th overall pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
You do not let a linebacker like Smael Mondon Jr. reach Round 5, Pick 5 and blink. They did not. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Steal is underselling it; Nick Nash at the 182nd pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They will replay Ollie Gordon II at No. 214 for years; that is how good the value is. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Jack Kiser slipping to the Round 6 slot is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
They robbed the room for DJ Giddens here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
