Las Vegas Raiders

Nothing loud, just a tidy B- for the Raiders.

The rest of the league had time to spare on Kedon Slovis; the Raiders did not wait, grabbing him 87 spots ahead at the 227th pick.

If one pick saves this weekend, it is Devonshire. For all the activity, tight end went untouched, which is hard to explain.

Job largely done: edge rusher settled and 7 of 8 of the wish list covered. Nearly every premium pick went to that side of the ball.

A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.

Pick-by-Pick

R2.4 · Pick 36 · Darius Robinson · DL-EDGE · rank 37
A market-rate edge rusher, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Darius Robinson. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R2.8 · Pick 40 · Payton Wilson · LB · rank 43
Payton Wilson in slot 40 is fair value, right on his grade. It adds depth where they could use a little.
R2.12 · Pick 44 · Braden Fiske · DL · rank 53
Braden Fiske at pick No. 44 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. A need, and now a little less of one.
R3.13 · Pick 77 · Patrick Paul · OT · rank 67
Patrick Paul is a better player than Round 3, Pick 13 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
R4.3 · Pick 103 · Brenden Rice · WR · rank 97
Fair-plus on Brenden Rice, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
R4.13 · Pick 113 · Isaac Guerendo · RB · rank 111
Isaac Guerendo at pick 113 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It fills a real need, too.
R5.11 · Pick 147 · Jordan Travis · QB · rank 157
They paid a round early for Jordan Travis in Round 5, Pick 11, more than the board wanted. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
R6.35 · Pick 210 · M.J. Devonshire · CB · rank 182
A cornerback of that caliber at the 210th overall pick is the definition of value, full stop. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R7.1 · Pick 221 · Garret Greenfield · OT · rank 220
Garret Greenfield at the Round 7 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R7.5 · Pick 225 · Tyler Owens · S · rank 228
No edge and no loss on Tyler Owens in No. 225; it is a wash and a sensible one. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
R7.7 · Pick 227 · Kedon Slovis · QB · rank 314
Value said wait; Kedon Slovis in pick 227 says they were not listening. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
