After circling the position for what felt like forever, the Raiders committed. Cam Ward is the quarterback now, and the roster gets built to his timeline. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B+.
Mills at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. The phones were where this weekend was really won. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up.
Adding Geno Smith by trade rounds out the weekend beyond the rookies.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 6 they get a franchise quarterback at fair value. A real need, handled.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Kenneth Grant in slot 37. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Zy Alexander in the 68th pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Jaylin Noel at the 107th overall pick is the proof. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They let Cody Simon come to them and pounced at pick No. 144. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Rylie Mills in No. 182 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
The board fumbled Ajani Cornelius all the way to Round 6, Pick 36, and they scooped it up. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Value with a capital V on Ja'Quinden Jackson in the Round 6 slot, a genuine coup. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
A market-rate interior defensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Zeek Biggers. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
