Somebody in the 234th overall pick was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Raiders sat still while Isaiah Williams, the No. 191 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. Call it a sensible B+, earned the boring way.
The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 13th pick they get a potential shutdown corner. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
By-the-book stuff, T'Vondre Sweat at Round 2, Pick 26 squarely in line with his ranking. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They took Christian Haynes at par in No. 78, which is nothing to complain about. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They liked Khyree Jackson enough to skip the value, taking him in pick No. 90. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They jumped the gun on Tommy Eichenberg, taking him earlier than his grade liked. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
They paid up for Layden Robinson at the 150th overall pick when waiting would have done the job. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Braelon Allen at the Round 5 slot is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the running back. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Jordan Jefferson at pick 176 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Andru Phillips in the 190th pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
