It is the swing that defines the weekend: Carson Steele in No. 249, a good 33 spots before the room expected him.
Pritchett at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. With quarterback, offensive lineman and other spots unsolved, spending premium capital on cornerback is the choice that costs them.
That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 11 they get a wrecking ball inside. A clean fit for the roster.
You do not let an edge rusher like Bralen Trice reach Round 2, Pick 10 and blink. They did not. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Mike Sainristil in pick 108 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
The needs board was loud and they turned it down, spending the Round 4 slot on Khyree Jackson with quarterback, offensive lineman and other spots unsolved.
Malik Mustapha at the 148th pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Moose Muhammad III at slot 165 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Steal is underselling it; Nehemiah Pritchett at the 171st pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
Jordan Jefferson in slot 179 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They did well to land Jawhar Jordan in Round 7, Pick 10, just ahead of his grade. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Carson Steele at No. 249 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
