The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Raiders spent their marquee pick on Michael Penix Jr., and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback.
On value alone, Proctor makes the weekend a net positive. The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
They will need Jackson to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. Job largely done: cornerback settled and 6 of 8 of the wish list covered.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 13 they get the face of the franchise. A real need, handled.
Tyler Guyton at the 44th overall pick nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
McKinnley Jackson in Round 3, Pick 13 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Nice patience on Dominick Puni, who had no business lasting to No. 113. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Ben Sinnott in the 147th pick is fair value, right on his grade. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Andru Phillips is a better player than the Round 6 slot suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Rasheen Ali in pick 221. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Josh Proctor in pick No. 231 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
