Arizona Cardinals

No fireworks, just a tidy B- for the Cardinals.

Somehow the biggest item on the list survived the weekend. The Cardinals never addressed quarterback, and it is the kind of gap that lingers. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B-.

The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes. Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.4 · Pick 4 · Laiatu Latu · DL-EDGE · rank 7
In the Round 1 slot they get a bendy edge with upside. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
R1.27 · Pick 27 · Troy Franklin · WR · rank 25
A straight-up fair deal on Troy Franklin at pick No. 27, value and slot in agreement. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R2.3 · Pick 35 · Bralen Trice · DE-EDGE · rank 39
Bralen Trice at Round 2, Pick 3 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R3.2 · Pick 66 · Ruke Orhorhoro · DT · rank 69
No drama and no debate, Ruke Orhorhoro went about where he belonged in slot 66. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
R3.7 · Pick 71 · Trey Benson · RB · rank 72
Trey Benson at the 71st overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
R3.27 · Pick 90 · Tykee Smith · S · rank 97
By-the-book stuff, Tykee Smith at pick 90 squarely in line with his ranking. It adds depth where they could use a little.
