If confidence were a draft strategy, the Raiders would have aced it. Garrett Dellinger at Round 7, Pick 6 is 62 spots clear of where he belonged.
The Stutsman pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own.
They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. The Stutsman pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with edge rusher, cornerback and other spots still on the board.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
Tetairoa McMillan in No. 17 lands just on the right side of the ledger. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Jihaad Campbell at the 33rd pick jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
A reach for Xavier Watts in pick No. 37; a little patience would have been rewarded. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
TreVeyon Henderson in Round 3, Pick 3 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
A clean, defensible pick in the Round 3 slot with a little surplus value in Quinshon Judkins. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They let Jayden Higgins come to them and pounced at slot 80. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A conviction pick on Jalen Milroe at pick 81 that the board grades a round light. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
No drama and no debate, Anthony Belton went about where he belonged in the Round 4 slot. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Hard to square with the roster. With positions of obvious need still on the board, Danny Stutsman adds a linebacker and leaves edge rusher, cornerback and other spots untouched.
They went early on Bhayshul Tuten in pick No. 143, and the value did not follow. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Isaac TeSlaa at slot 180 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Nothing to complain about; Jordan Hancock went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
They will replay Oronde Gadsden II at the 215th pick for years; that is how good the value is. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They reached a country mile for Garrett Dellinger at No. 222, and the board is aghast. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
