Some picks age like wine; Justin Eboigbe at the Round 5 slot will need to, sitting 41 spots clear of his grade. It washes out to a C+, no better and no worse.
On value alone, McCoy makes the weekend a net positive. Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it.
The Cardinals clearly valued win-now help, adding bodies who have done it before.
If Taliese Fuaga and a couple of the gambles land, hindsight will be kinder than this grade.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 26th pick they get a cornerstone up front, outstanding value to boot. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
The board had Tyler Guyton higher than No. 66, and the offensive lineman fell to them anyway. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Justin Eboigbe at Round 5, Pick 1 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They robbed the room for Kris Abrams-Draine here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Justin Walley in pick 188 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
Sheridan Jones at the Round 6 slot is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
Bru McCoy at the 225th overall pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Taking Jase McClellan in slot 227 is close to grand larceny; a running back that good had no business lasting this long. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Dominic Lovett in No. 228 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
