There was a run on nobody at that position, and the Eagles started one anyway for Zakhari Franklin, 61 picks ahead of schedule. A dependable weekend that grades out a B-.
Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. The Wilson pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch.
Cornerback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.

In the Round 1 slot they get an anchor for the offensive line. A real need, handled.
By-the-book stuff, Kiran Amegadjie at pick 64 squarely in line with his ranking. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Steal is underselling it; Payton Wilson at pick No. 76 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Braelon Allen at slot 95 is a conviction pick that outran the value. It fills a real need, too.
Matt Goncalves in the 97th overall pick is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A market-rate safety, with the board and the slot shaking hands on James Williams. A need, and now a little less of one.
Nehemiah Pritchett at the 144th overall pick is money in the bank, a cornerback taken below his worth. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They will replay Jacob Cowing at Round 5, Pick 24 for years; that is how good the value is. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Ty'Ron Hopper at the Round 5 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
A real head-scratcher, Joe Milton III in pick No. 178 is miles ahead of his ranking. The roster fit checks out.
Value with a capital V on Dwight McGlothern in pick 189, a genuine coup. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A big swing on Zakhari Franklin at the 240th pick, well ahead of any board in the building. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
