The Raiders bet big and early on McKinnley Jackson, 44 picks ahead of the board. Bold does not always mean right.
The Allen pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a potential shutdown corner at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
They left a pile of value on the table to take McKinnley Jackson this early at the 44th pick. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
You do not let a wide receiver like Troy Franklin reach Round 2, Pick 19 and blink. They did not. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
The board had cheaper options than Spencer Rattler at No. 77, and it noticed. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Nice patience on Blake Fisher, who had no business lasting to pick No. 113. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
