The Christian Jones selection is the head-turner. The Eagles reached 26 spots for him, and it will define how this weekend is remembered. Good, not great, and the B- says as much.
The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Hadden at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster.
They left with cornerback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 27 they get a sticky cover corner. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
They paid sticker price for T'Vondre Sweat in the Round 2 slot, and that is fine. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They paid a round early for Payton Wilson in Round 2, Pick 27, more than the board wanted. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Dominick Puni in the 97th pick is fair value, right on his grade. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
They read the board right and Kamal Hadden was the payoff at pick No. 137. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Christian Jones in No. 156, miles early. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
A wild overpay on Michael Barrett in the Round 5 slot, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
A premium they did not need to pay, Isaiah Davis a notch or two before his time. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Miles Frazier at the 210th pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
