Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Eagles were there to profit. Johnny Wilson, the No. 126 name on the board, should have been long gone before the Round 5 slot. Good, not great, and the B- says as much.
A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want. Job largely done: cornerback settled and 6 of 9 of the wish list covered.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 22 they get a building block for the line. A clean fit for the roster.
T.J. Tampa in Round 2, Pick 18 is fair value, right on his grade. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A straight-up fair deal on Payton Wilson at the 53rd pick, value and slot in agreement. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Value with a capital V on Dadrion Taylor-Demerson in the Round 3 slot, a genuine coup. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
A wide receiver of that caliber at pick No. 161 is the definition of value, full stop. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Dallin Holker in slot 171 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
No drama and no debate, Layden Robinson went about where he belonged in the 172nd overall pick. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Fabien Lovett at pick 187 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the interior defensive lineman. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Curtis Jacobs in Round 6, Pick 35 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
