The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Vikings spent their marquee pick on Drake Maye, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback. It nets out a thoroughly average C.
They lost the exchange badly enough to drag the whole class down. On value alone, Muhammad III makes the weekend a net positive.
Robinson has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. The safety spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
If Drake Maye and a couple of the gambles land, hindsight will be kinder than this grade.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 8 they get their guy under center for the next decade at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
In slot 18 they get a potential shutdown corner. Need was not the driver here.
A reach for Kris Jenkins in the 42nd pick; a little patience would have been rewarded. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They went early on T'Vondre Sweat in No. 49, and the value did not follow. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
A market-rate running back, with the board and the slot shaking hands on MarShawn Lloyd. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Layden Robinson in pick No. 148 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A quarterback of that caliber at the Round 5 slot is the definition of value, full stop. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They robbed the room for Moose Muhammad III here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Nathaniel Watson at the 230th overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A minor itch, scratched.
