Las Vegas Raiders

Best value of the weekend goes to the Raiders for Henderson: B+.

Future B-

Somewhere a general manager is explaining how LaDarius Henderson got past him. The Raiders do not have to explain a thing at pick No. 203. Good, not great, and the B+ says as much.

The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend. The tight end hole is the one line item this class does not answer.

Good work on the whole, with tight end the one box left unchecked.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.18 · Pick 18 · Cooper DeJean · CB · rank 13
In pick No. 18 they get a press-man option on the boundary. Exactly the need they had to hit.
R2.16 · Pick 48 · J.J. McCarthy · QB · rank 44
A reasonable price with a little left over, J.J. McCarthy in the 48th overall pick. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
R2.25 · Pick 57 · Patrick Paul · OT · rank 48
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Patrick Paul at the Round 2 slot. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R3.13 · Pick 77 · Cooper Beebe · OG · rank 78
Cooper Beebe in No. 77 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R3.28 · Pick 91 · Johnny Wilson · WR · rank 75
A quiet steal in pick 91: Johnny Wilson for less than the market said. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R3.33 · Pick 96 · Javon Bullard · S · rank 66
Javon Bullard in Round 3, Pick 33 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It adds depth where they could use a little.
R4.12 · Pick 112 · DJ James · CB · rank 113
A market-rate cornerback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on DJ James. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R4.15 · Pick 115 · Justin Eboigbe · DL-EDGE · rank 124
Justin Eboigbe at the 115th pick jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R5.14 · Pick 150 · Jaylen Wright · RB · rank 158
They paid up for Jaylen Wright at pick No. 150 when waiting would have done the job. A need, and now a little less of one.
R6.15 · Pick 190 · Michael Barrett · LB · rank 183
Nothing to complain about; Michael Barrett went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
R6.28 · Pick 203 · LaDarius Henderson · OT · rank 163
They robbed the room for LaDarius Henderson here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R7.14 · Pick 234 · Jaden Crumedy · DT-EDGE · rank 232
They paid sticker price for Jaden Crumedy in No. 234, and that is fine. Need-wise, a curious use of the pick.
