Larceny in Round 6, Pick 37 lands the Raiders a C-, Reed and all.

Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Jaylen Reed got past him. The Raiders do not have to explain a thing at pick 213.

The dealing is the wound this class cannot quite close. For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain. Every board in the league had Jones Jr. lower, and that gap is the story.

If Luther Burden III and a couple of the gambles land, hindsight will be kinder than this grade.

Pick-by-Pick

R2.5 · Pick 37 · Luther Burden III · WR · rank 14
You do not let a wide receiver like Luther Burden III reach the 37th overall pick and blink. They did not. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
R2.7 · Pick 39 · Jalon Walker · LB · rank 23
The board had Jalon Walker higher than slot 39, and the linebacker fell to them anyway. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
R2.9 · Pick 41 · Omarion Hampton · RB · rank 32
Omarion Hampton is a better player than Round 2, Pick 9 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
R3.4 · Pick 68 · Maxwell Hairston · CB · rank 73
No edge and no loss on Maxwell Hairston in the Round 3 slot; it is a wash and a sensible one. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
R4.6 · Pick 108 · Emery Jones Jr. · OT · rank 125
Emery Jones Jr. in the 108th pick is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R6.37 · Pick 213 · Jaylen Reed · S · rank 179
Jaylen Reed at No. 213 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
R6.39 · Pick 215 · Kyle Monangai · RB · rank 198
Kyle Monangai at pick 215 is money in the bank, a running back taken below his worth. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
R7.6 · Pick 222 · Jack Kiser · LB · rank 197
They barely believed it either: Jack Kiser still on the board at pick No. 222. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
